Blackforest Toasted Sandwich a la Safka

 

Ingredients for 2 sandwiches.

50g Blackforest Ham, cut into small cubes

50g Swiss Gruyere, grated

1-2 tbsp Felix Mustard Gherkin Relish

2 tbsp Mayonnaise

salt & pepper to taste

Directions

1. mix all the ingredients well

2. spread butter or margarine on 2 sandwich pieces and fill with the mix

3. toast until golden

 

Serve with pawpaw salsa

 


 

 

Fleischwurst Sausage in Creamy Sauce

Ingredients:
1 Fleischwurst
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 onions
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
300ml water
200ml light sour cream
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper

Remove the sausage peel and cut them into wedges. Peel and dice the onion.
Brown the sausage slices and diced onion gently in the oil. Sprinkle the flour into the pan and continue browning until the flour will get a little color.
Add tomato paste and water and stir until smooth. Add sour cream, season with salt and white pepper. Boil for 10 minutes and season to your taste.

Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes and beetroot salad.

Oven Baked Fleischwurst Sausage with Bread Dumplings

 

Ingredients:

Fleischwurst

1/4 finely chopped onion

1 tbsp mustard of your choice

1 tbsp ketchup

Gouda or Emmental cheese slices

Bread Dumplings

 

Preparation:

Pre-heat oven to 200C

Make deep slices the sausage but no the whole way through. Fill the slices with chopped onion, mustard. ketchup and a cheese slice. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden.

Serve with bread dumplings or mashed potato and fresh salad.

 

 

 

 

Blueberry Quark Pie

 

Base:

100g melted butter or margarine
75ml sugar
1 egg
250ml wheat flour
1tsp baking powder

Filling:

100ml milk
250g quark
1 egg
100ml sugar
1tsp vanillin sugar
zest of 1 lemon
300ml blueberries, fresh or frozen

Beat the egg, sugar and melted fat together. Add flour and baking powder.
Put in the fridge for a few minutes (so it is easier to handle).

Mix all the filling ingredients apart from the blueberries into a smooth mass .

Press the base into a buttered baking dish (24cm diameter).

Place the blueberries on the base and then pour the filling mixture on top and spread evenly.

Bake in the oven at 200C, for about 40 min. Let cool before serving. Serve with a dollop of cream or sour cream and blueberries.
